Another poem

We analyzed a poem named You’re by Silvia Plath. We circled the metaphors we found and underlined the similes. After we found the figurative language we had to explain its function. This activity was fun and the poem was about a baby, how innocent, pure, happy, energetic, smooth, clean, warm, still and etc they are. Babies are beautiful and precious; I loved the poem. In addition, Mr. Rease gave us a pop quiz out of the blue. He told us to take out a piece of paper, write your name, number it 1-20, and write major grade on the top-right corner. He asked us a few questions and the class was like “I was not here! I haven’t read that poem, WHAT!” This was very funny and the best part was when Mr. Rease said, “It’s a joke! This is not a real quiz.” The class was so mad but so amused. Mr. Rease did a good job tricking the class.

     Today, Mr. Rease left the class an assignment that requires us to get I to our groups from last week and create two paragraphs using the cluster that each group developed. In my group, we did one paragraph instead of two because I helped one of my group members finish the questions from yesterday. Hopefully we will have a few minutes to finish the paragraphs tomorrow.

Reflection

     Today in class, Mr. Rease went over all the questions made by each group from yesterday. Each group had to come up with a question from one of the short story that we read two days ago. Each group answered the questions and we did the process of elimination. We had to choose the best answer. This was fun because I learned something new, wording makes a difference in meaning. The way you word a question will have an affect on the answer or it can confuse someone. Word choice is significant when organizing a question. Another thing that excites me was the fact that my group had the best answer on one of the questions we answered. The question was “What did the golden coins represent in the short story?” Our group said success while everyone else said greed and temptation. The reason why we said success is because society relates success to money. If you have a nice car, a nice house, and nice clothes people will say your successful. Poem

     In class, Mr. Rease asked us to choose any object and create a poem about it. He said he will enter in a contest for a chance of winning money. I rote about a clock because time is quite strange. Happy and precious moments go by so fast while painful and sad moneys last for to long. Time never gives anyone a break.
