ACT WORKEYS

Some seniors went to their home rooms so they can complete and Act Work Key exam. We were all sent to computer labs and given a login into the test. We had there sections to complete, each section was about 45 minutes long and we started at 8:00am and finished at 12:30pm. That is 4 hours and 30 minutes of test taking. I hate that I had to miss my AP class to go to 2nd lunch wave, but I was hungry. I was also extremely exhausted. I was sleepy and could not concentrate in my 4th block class. In addition, I was supposed to go to an FBLA meeting today but had to miss it because I had no clue I had one. This day was completely overwhelming but I am glad the work keys exam is over and now I have to prepare myself for the ACT coming on December the 6th. Who ever reads this, please pray that I do well because scholarships and college is in the line right now. God bless!

Poems

Mr. Rease was not present today, but he did leave work for us. We had to read four poems and answer critical thinking questions. All of theses poems I read last year. When I read them again today, I forgot everything about what I learned from each poem. I struggled analyzing their meanings but I tried my best.

Reviewing Essays

Mr. Rease printed out a few essays for the class to look over. Each essay has mistakes and errors that the class should find and fix together. The first essay, in my opinion, was the worst I have ever read. The introduction had no thesis and the claims in the body paragraphs was not backed up by evidence. I learned a lot reviewing these essays and the thing that some of these essays had in common was repetition. The same thing being stated over and over again which is quite irritating. If I were to write an essay now, I know I would do very well on it.

EQT

I took an EQT! Which is a waste of time apparently. Now I know I suck at essays and multiple choice. I am done with AP. Failed!

Discussion on my Macbeth Essay

Mr. Rease gave us an assignment on a weekend. We were to write an essay on the play “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare. I did not do as good as I should on this essay. Me. Rease graded mine first. I got a 60 on it; not very proud of it, but I did learn a lot from what Mr. Rease discussed with me. He gave me examples from the Bible and compared it to the play. I thought that was really cool. In addition, because of this bad grade I am going to rewrite my essay to see if I improved any.

Auburn University Discussion

A speaker from the Auburn University came to Ben C Rain to discuss why this college is good for us. First he explained the scholarships and percentages of people accepted there. At first I thought I would not like this school because I am an Alabama fan but this school sounds great. The university has a beautiful campus and since Accounting is my major it was great to find out that Auburn is ranked around number one in the states in the business program. I can’t wait apply and see if they accept me.

Reading and Discussion

In class we discussed the characters in the play Fences. Troy, Bono, Rose, Corey, and Lyons are the main characters, my favorite is Troy so far. I like this character the most because he makes really good points in his arguments but the only thing I do not like about him is the way he speaks to Rose and what he does behind her back. It’s terrible! But other than that I think he is really good at crlreating come backs during arguments or discussions. I also think the Character Rose is great because her character is sweet and loving. So far this play is really interesting and I can not wait to read more tomorrow!

Kahoot and discussion

After reading the short story, Mr. Rease did a kahoot with the class to see who payed attention while reading the story. We were put into six groups and named with NFL Football team. My group are called The Bears☹️. We started off in first place but ended up in third. Mr. Rease put us in groups to keep us attentive by collecting points. The group with the most wins😉. Since my group ended up in third place we got five points🤗. Better than nothing I suppose!
